NTSC
NTSC (National Television System Committee) is an analog television video format standard and color encoding system used in various countries, including North America, Japan, and parts of South America. NTSC refers to both the video format and the color encoding system employed in analog NTSC broadcasts.
The NTSC video format has a resolution of 525 horizontal lines and an aspect ratio of 4:3. It operates at a frame rate of 29.97 frames per second (also referred to as 30 frames per second) and uses interlaced scanning, which alternates between even and odd lines to create a complete frame. This format was widely used for analog television broadcasts and VHS recordings.
In terms of color encoding, NTSC utilizes the YUV color space, where Y represents the brightness component and UV represents the color difference components. The color information is encoded using a combination of hue (phase) and saturation. This system allows for the transmission and reproduction of color content in analog television broadcasts.
